My family and I were able to join the history group of Sør-Varanger on a boat tour with Tormod and Anne Lise Hoel in mid-September. It proved to be an event we will never forget. Though the weather looked ominous at first, it cleared just as we got in the boat. Just in case, though, Tormod and Anne Lise were prepared with gear to keep us comfortable no matter what -- an early sign of the great care they offer their guests. The stories and pictures Tormod shared as we motored along brought the valley alive -- carrying us through time to important events spanning the stone ages to the present. The river and valley of Pasvik are beautiful and the stories about its inhabitants dramatic. Pasvik has a history that most Norwegians know little about, yet Tormod and Anne Lise have kept it alive and are eager to share it in ways that people of all ages can enjoy. The boat was comfortable, the dinner on the peninsula was delicious, the views were breathtaking and the company was delightful. It could not have been a more perfect day. Tusen takk for en aldeles nydelig dag Tormod og Anne Lise!
